This past weekend, my wife and I spent 3 days in the Smoky Mountains with my parents, my sister, her husband and their 3 boys. Both my parents and my sister and her husband work at the same school in a small town in Michigan. They are currently on Spring Break, and have been coming down to Tennessee for the past three years during their break. This year was the first that Nikki and I were able to join them for a few days.
We arrived late Saturday evening and spent a few hours talking and catching up on life. On Sunday, we packed into two cars and had a picnic at Cade's Cove. It wasn't sunny, but it wasn't cold either. We enjoyed our sandwiches in the presence of other vacationing families, each with their pre-packed meals. After eating, we explored the river near our table for a little while.
After packing up our picnic, my oldest nephew and I pulled out the baseball and gloves and had a game of catch.
It rained a lot on our last night. The river rose quite a bit and it was beautiful to look at. It wasn't long before we were packed and headed home. Vacations never last as long as you want them to.
